DBA Codes and Guidelines now confirmed

The Dental Board of Australia (DBA) has today posted the approved versions of their Codes and Guidelines relating to:
  • Code of Conduct
  • Guidelines for mandatory notifications
  • Guidelines on Continuing Professional Development
  • Guidelines on Dental Records
  • Guidelines on Infection Control
  • Limited registration for teaching

These complement the Board's Dental Registration Standards covering the following areas:

  • Continuing Professional Development
  • Criminal History
  • Endorsement for Conscious Sedation
  • English Language Skills
  • List of specialties
  • Professional Indemnity Insurance
  • Recency of Practice
  • Scope of Practice
  • Specialist Registration

There was also an Advertising Standard listed in the original material distributed by the DBA, and we assume that this will be posted shortly, and that its omission was an oversight.

These documents detail requirements and obligations affecting registered dental practitioners throughout Australia from 1 July 2010.

The Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA) provides administrative support for all the national registration boards, and their website states (as at 5 July) that their Enquiry Contact Centre (Ph 1300 419 495) is currently experiencing a high volume of calls. They therefore offer an online enquiry form.
