Dental Board Fees announced

The Dental Board of Australia has now published the Schedule of Fees for Dentists and Specialists, which apply from 1 July. Renewal of registration will occur from 30 November so for those currently registered, the new fees will apply at that date.

Fees for other registered dental care providers are also available at the same web address.

The annual fee for general and specialist registration is $545 in most States, including Victoria. NSW dentists will pay only $403, as that State opted out of the national complaints system and will conduct its own complaint management process.

Those seeking registration for the first time are to be hit with a new application fee of $275. This appears to be in addition to the annual fee noted above.

An intriguing item in the fee schedule is the cost of a copy of the register "if the application is assessed as in the public interest", which has been set at $2000.

As an aside, we understand that there may have been some problems in translating register entries from the current databases in each State into the new national online register. You may wish to check your details, and to let the Board know if there are any errors.
