First Indigenous dental assistant trainees graduate
Four young Indigenous people have become the first dental assistants to graduate from the Dental Health Services Victoria Indigenous Dental Assistant Traineeship Program.
Melissa Stevens, Wazana Maza, Michael Lawler, and Alwyn Ross were recruited in the first tranche of the program – with trainees coming from across the country to take part. They have successfully completed the program and are now working as qualified dental assistants.
DHSV first offered the 18-month program last year to encourage young people into the public dental sector.
