Dentists still rate highly for honesty and integrity
Dentists ranked sixth behind nurses, pharmacists, doctors, teachers and engineers, in the 2010 Image of Professions Survey conducted by Roy Morgan Research. This survey has rated the honesty and integrity of various professions since 1979.
This year's survey revealed that 68% of people surveyed believed dentists to be honest and trustworthy, a 1% drop from last year.
Nurses had the trust of 89% of survey participants, continuing their top ranking for the 16th year in a row, while pharmacists had the trust of 85% and doctors 83%.
The results show that dentists rank higher than High Court judges (63%), religious ministers (44%), and Bank Managers (33%).
Journalists (11%), Estate Agents (10%), Advertising people (8%) and Car Salesmen (5%) were the lowest ranked of the thirty occupations included in the survey.
