Oral health a winner in Federal Budget

As announced earlier, tonight’s Federal Budget includes the allocation of $512 million to improve dental services. Treasurer Wayne Swan said: " This Budget also provides $515 million in funding to address immediate dental care needs. We know that many low income earners face long waiting lists for public dental services. $346 million over three years will fund a blitz on public dental waiting lists and get care to people who need it most but can least afford it. We’re also boosting the public system with $78 million to help dentists relocate to regional, rural and remote areas; $81 million to boost training for graduate dentists and therapists; and $10.5 million to promote better oral health". The Australian Dental Association welcomed the oral health initiative.
