ADA offers revamped dental scheme
Offering a national dental scheme, the Australian Dental Association has revamped its DentalAccess to target those Australians who genuinely have difficulty accessing dental care and at the same time offer the budgetary restraint needed.
ADA estimates that the revised DentalAccess targeted towards the disadvantaged adult population will cost about $2 billion a year.
The Association says that DentaIAccess will:
• Create savings of $5.5 billion over the forward estimates by replacing the Chronic Disease Dental Scheme (average savings of $700 million a year);
• Target particular disadvantaged groups as a starting point;
• Provide comprehensive services directed towards effective dental care (rather than a narrow schedule of services);
• Provide for care that is patient focused and provides long-term oral health solutions; and,
• Ensures that the skills of all members of the dental team are used effectively.
