Industrial win for ADA
Following a significant win for members by the ADA in the Fair Work Commission in April 2013, the ADA has now successfully defended an appeal by the Health Services Union (HSU), United Voice (UV) and the Australian Services Union (ASU).
The result is that staff required to work ordinary hours on weekends in a dental surgery, will not be entitled to an additional week of annual leave under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award 2010 (HPSS Award).
The HSU’s Appeal sought to challenge certain aspects of the 2012 Award Review decision handed down by Vice President (VP) Watson which had specifically exempted such workers employed in dental surgeries from this entitlement to an extra week’s leave.
