Dental tourism - Be careful, ADA warns

The Australian Dental Association has reminded people considering having dental procedures overseas that things may go wrong. ADA President Dr Karin Alexander, speaking to host Red Symons on 774 ABC Melbourne, said people need to be wary about the quality of care patients received overseas.

She said that as dentistry in some Asian countries is not as regulated as in Australia, things can go wrong, and it may be difficult to fix the problem upon returning home.

Dr Alexander's comments followed a report in weekend newspapers about the growing popularity of dental tourism.
