Three tips to keeping your teeth in top shape these holidays

With Easter just around the corner, it’s important to remind your patients to enjoy Easter eggs – and other sweets – in moderation and emphasise the importance of proper dental hygiene.

In a media release on Tuesday, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) urged families to be vigilant with dental care, particularly at times like Easter when sweet treats are in abundance.

The ADA made a number of recommendations to families, which would be beneficial to highlight in your practice.

These recommendations included:
  • Having a ‘sugar break’ the week before and the week after Easter to offset the sugar hits.
  • Refraining from snacking on sugary treats over a long period, as this prolongs the time that teeth are exposed to acid attacks.
  • Making sure to brush teeth well twice a day – don’t get lax with your dental care just because of the holidays!
