State Budget to boost dental services?

Media reports say that the Victorian Government is expected to provide funding in next month’s Budget to improve dental services for country towns under a statewide push to prevent disease and reduce waiting lists.
The reports say that the Budget will contain $11.2 million for:
■ An early intervention hygiene and health program to ensure children up to the age of three get free dental health checks.
■ Three new mobile dental clinics, introduced over the next two years, to improve services in rural and regional towns.
■ A new employment program to encourage graduates to work in country areas, by creating more training places for them in regional clinics.
■ An incentive scheme to encourage more dental workers to move to the country.
ADAVB President Dr Anne Stewart said: ''No government is ever going to have enough money to pay for disease repair, so the prevention of disease is crucial. However, it's important that the money is going to people who need it".
