Code on use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography
The Dental Board of Australia has issued a new Code on the use of Cone Beam Computed Tomography. It requires that: “Dental practitioners using CBCT must be adequately trained in the safe use of CBCT and should abide by the Code of Practice and Safety Guide for Radiation Protection in Dentistry (2005) produced and published by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA). “In addition, all dental practitioners associated with the ownership or use of CBCT must ensure ownership, licensing and operation of CBCT equipment complies with the legislation of the relevant state, territory and commonwealth jurisdiction.” Members should also look at the Board's interim policies on Botox and teeth whitening/bleaching also available on DBA's website.
