National safety and quality goals for health care
As safety and quality is central to the delivery of health care, the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care is identifying a small number of national safety and quality goals.
The Australian Safety and Quality Goals for Health Care will describe the key safety and quality challenges in Australian health care and provide a focus for concerted and coordinated national action to improve the health system over the next five years.
A discussion paper with the draft goals will be prepared for public consultation by the end of October. The consultation process will begin in early November and continue until next February. A final set of goals will be developed by 31 March 2012.
