ACT to ban sugary drinks in schools
The ACT government will today announce a ban on the
sale of soft drinks and fruit juices from vending machines in ACT government
schools. The ban will be the first step in a plan by the government to tackle
the rate of childhood obesity in the ACT. The government has indicated that they will also announce a ban on soft drinks and juices from school canteens –

Back in October we featured a blog post in
relation to a study by The Credit Suisse Research Institute, Sugar: Consumption at a crossroads, which looked at both the health
implications of high consumption of sugary drinks and the cost to the global
healthcare systems.
