HICAPS crash

Members have been reporting that HICAPS terminals ceased operation over the last week, and that they have been having difficulty getting through to the National Australia Bank to arrange a solution.

The HICAPS website posted the following message this morning:

"HICAPS terminals issue - Update 9:30am Monday 9 August

We apologise for the inconvenience to your business while we work to resolve the software issue affecting some HICAPS terminals.

The cause of the problem has been identified and we are working to have the small proportion of affected terminals replaced fast as possible.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If your HICAPS terminal is functioning, please DO NOT turn it off under any circumstances, as this may cause your terminal to fail and it may not restart. Please ensure all your employees are aware of this situation by placing an alert message close by where it will be easily seen.

Customers whose terminals are not working will need to have them replaced, and this process has already begun. If you are waiting on a replacement terminal, one of the temporary payment solutions we can offer is providing a Mail Order Telephone Order form (a MOTO form) on which you can record credit card payments, for processing manually.

By using the MOTO form you will be able to process credit card transactions until you have a working terminal. This is a short term measure designed to minimise the disruption to your business and enable you to accept customer credit card payments.

Please contact
hicaps@hicaps.com.au and you will be able to access the MOTO form and for more information.

Again we apologise for the inconvenience to you, your business and your customers."
