Extra funding for student training days

Health Workforce Australia is funding additional training days for the 21 major health professions - a total of 1,196,733 extra clinical training days. The funding is based on the total growth in placements when the program reaches “steady state”. For dentistry “steady state” is 12,885 placements.

The funding will cost $143.56 million in 2013.

Steady state is where the full impact of the additional student placements has been achieved and will remain at a constant level as students complete placements and new students take their place.
