AHPRA warning about The Medical Register

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) has published a statement warning health practitioners about the activities of a professional development and services directory provider called 'The Medical Register of Australia'.

"It has come to the attention of AHPRA that letters and application forms are being sent out by another organisation, The Medical Register of Australia. Their correspondence may lead you to believe that registration with them is required to comply with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009.

This is not the case. AHPRA does not require you to apply for registration with the Medical Register of Australia to be recognised as a registered health practitioner.

The Medical Register of Australia is a separate organisation. It has no role or relationship to AHPRA, any of the National Boards or the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme."
