Dental challenge issued to politicians

With Federal election campaigning under way, the Australian Dental Association (ADA) has issued a challenge to all parties, asking whether they will do their bit to protect mouths and teeth of young adults.

The ADA has also invited the major political parties to answer the 2013 Federal Election Report Card Questions on Dental Health Policy.

As the announcement of the election coincided with Dental Health Week, ADA issued the challenge.

The target audience for this year’s Dental Health Week is young adults – those aged 18 to 30 years.

ADA has created a Young Person’s Oral Survival Guide which aims to help young adults take care of their teeth well past their 30th birthday. Featuring a number of topics, the guide discusses how oral health can suffer because of binge drinking and smoking as well drug use and oral sex.
