Minister Davis calls for reversal of FBT decision
State Health Minister Mr David Davis has called on the Federal Government to reverse its decision to change the method of calculating Fringe Benefits Tax entitlements for motor vehicle leases.
The decision affects tens of thousands of health sector workers including nurses, community health workers, aged care staff, paramedics, doctors and dentists. Mr Davis said that conservative estimates suggest individuals will lose between $2000 to $3000 per year in benefits, and some much greater amounts.
The Victorian Healthcare Association, along with the ADAVB and other major health employers and employer groups such as Leading Age Services Australia – Victoria, and Ambulance Victoria, jointly wrote to the Prime Minister, Mr Rudd, to raise their concerns about the impact of the tax change.
