Medicare PKI certificate expiry
Medicare advises that their Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificate is expiring on 12 March 2014.
It’s used to encrypt the transmissions you send to Medicare electronically, and is used to digitally sign the responses they send back. The
certificate is used for Medicare
Online, PBS
Online, Aged
Care Online Claiming, ECLIPSE
and of most relevance to dentists, the Healthcare
Identifiers Service.
Dentists have been signing up for the PKI certificate recently so they can gain access to Medicare's HPOS database in order to check the eligibility of their patients for treatment under the Child Dental Benefit Schedule.
Medicare urges that you make at least one transmission from your software before 9 March 2014 so that you can automatically receive the new certificate.
