Review of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (NRAS)

In a Communique issued following the meeting of the Standing Council on Health (SCoH) in Brisbane on 11 April, Australian Health Ministers have announced that the NRAS Review will be undertaken by an independent reviewer - Mr Kim Snowball. 

Mr Snowball is an eminent person with expertise in health and practitioner regulation. He has held senior leadership roles in both the public and private health sectors, including at various times Director General of WA Health and Chair of the Australian Health Ministers’ Advisory Council (AHMAC).

The recent Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into the performance of AHPRA is likely to be the basis for Victoria's contribution to the NRAS review.

We now await more details about the terms of reference for the review and opportunities for consultation.
