Smartphone app for health rating for packaged food
A smartphone application released today shows consumers the amount of sugar, fat and salt in packaged food.
The free app uses “traffic light” ratings – red (high), amber (medium) and green (low) – for the amounts of sugars, salts and fats in these products.
The application was developed by the Obesity Policy Coalition – a group of public health agencies which includes Cancer Council Victoria and Diabetes Australia’s Victorian branch.
